Roy McMillan hit a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Cincinnati Redlegs defeated
the St. Louis Cardinals 8 to 4 at Crosley Field.
Cincinnati took the lead for good in the bottom of the 2nd inning with 2 runs
using 3 hits. Gus Bell led off and started the attack as he drew a walk.
Chuck Harmon came next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Rocky Bridges then
doubled bringing in a run. McMillan came up and he ripped a base-knock, and
an error was also committed, scoring the final run of the inning. Cincinnati
had 14 hits overall, while St. Louis had 10.
Joe Black(8-1) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings.
Hersh Freeman recorded the save, his 10th. Luis Arroyo(7-10) ended up with
the loss. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 10 hits and 4
walks in 6 innings.
