AL Transaction August 25th
The Cleveland Indians placed 30 year old 1B Vic Wertz on the DL and he will miss the rest of the season. In his 9th season, 2nd with Cleveland, Wertz was hitting .217 with 14 homers and 52 RBI in 291 plate appearances. Wertz was aquired mid 1954 from Baltimore and played a key role in the Tribe's championship run.
To replace him on the roster Cleveland called up 25 year old infielder Rudy Regalado. In his 2nd season, both with Cleveland, Regalado will be making his first appearance of the 1955 season. Last year he hit .202 with 3 homers and 19 RBI in 207 plate appearances.
