The Cleveland Indians batters feasted on the New York Yankees pitching at
Municipal Stadium. The final score was a lop-sided 13 to 4.
Cleveland went ahead for good in the 2nd inning with 3 runs on 3 hits. Ferris
Fain led off and keyed the rally when he reached on an error. Hal Naragon
stepped up next and he delivered a base-hit plating a run. George Strickland
then hit a single, and an error was also committed. Herb Score dug into the
batters box next, but he struck out. Al Smith stepped into the box and would
ground out bringing in another run. Bobby Avila continued the rally and
slapped a single scoring the final run of the inning. Offensively, Cleveland
was a juggernaut. They scored in 6 separate innings.
The win was credited to Score(16-7) who went 7 innings allowing 4 runs. Don
Larsen(6-2) ended up with the loss. He gave up 8 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings
of work.
