In a thriller the Cincinnati Redlegs staged a dramatic comeback then held on

to win over the pathetic Pittsburgh Pirates by a score of 5 to 2 at Forbes

Field.

Cincinnati erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning as they scored

4 runs on 5 base hits. Cincinnati had 10 hits for the night.

Art Fowler(14-4) allowed 2 runs in 8 innings, and picked up the victory.

Jackie Collum gained credit for his 1st save. Vern Law(10-13) was the loser.

He gave up 9 hits and 2 walks in 8 and 2/3 innings.

Birdie Tebbetts was very happy after the game, 'It's great to come back and

win it in your last at bats! Our guys just wouldn't give up. And did you see

the fans - one minute they're laughing and screaming down all sorts of

unprintable stuff at our guys - the next minute - SILENCE! Yes sir, a very

enjoyable win tonight!'
