In a lop-sided win the Chicago Cubs ripped the Pittsburgh Pirates by a 9 to 3

count.



Pittsburgh fell behind quickly as the Chicago offense came through in the

first inning scoring a single run. Dee Fondy drew a walk. Two outs later

Ernie Banks stepped in and he stroked a base-hit. Jim King then reached on

an error scoring the run. Despite losing, Pittsburgh out-hit Chicago 11 to

7.



Jim Davis(6-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 and 2/3 innings and

allowing 3 runs. Max Surkont(4-12) was given the loss. He pitched 7 innings

and surrendered 4 hits and 4 walks.
