Catcher Roy Campanella homered and had 2 RBI as the impressive Brooklyn

Dodgers defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 9 to 1 at Ebbets Field.



Brooklyn claimed the early lead in the first inning as they scored 2 runs on 2

base hits. That early scoring held up. Brooklyn out-hit St. Louis for the

game, 14 hits to 6.



Johnny Podres(12-4) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 7 innings. Tom

Poholsky(4-9) took the loss. He surrendered 5 runs and 8 hits in 6 innings.
