Catcher Roy Campanella cracked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at Ebbets Field as the

Brooklyn Dodgers beat the Chicago Cubs by the count of 6 to 2.



Campanella had a big evening at the plate. He ripped a solo home run in the

2nd inning, laced a one-base hit in the 3rd inning and smashed a two-run

homer (his 32nd of the season) in the 8th inning. Brooklyn banged out 8 on

the night.



The victory went to Don Newcombe(12-9) who went 7 and 1/3 innings, allowing 2

runs. Don Bessent was credited with his 2nd save. Bob Rush(12-10) was the

losing pitcher. He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 4 runs in 2 and

1/3 innings.
