Roy Campanella slammed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Cincinnati Redlegs were

badly beaten by the Brooklyn Dodgers, 17 to 2.

Campanella had a good day at the plate. He rifled a three-run blast in the

1st inning, hit a bases-empty home run (his 34th of the season) in the 2nd

inning and slapped a one-base hit in the 5th inning. Brooklyn lit up the

scoreboard in the 1st inning which saw them plate 5 runs on 3 hits. The

Brooklyn offense was great, scoring in 7 of the 9 innings.

The victory went to Johnny Podres(11-4) who went 6 innings, allowing 1 run.

Podres got relief help from Don Bessent who gained credit for his 3rd save.

Johnny Klippstein(7-6) absorbed the loss.
