Warren Hacker went 9 strong innings at Polo Grounds as the Chicago Cubs beat
the New York Giants by the count of 3 to 1.
Chicago had the winning rally in the 8th inning with 2 runs utilizing 2 base
hits. Frankie Baumholtz opened up the inning nicely when he stroked a
base-hit. Ernie Banks stepped up next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt.
Jim King then bombed a two-run dinger (his 13th of the season). Chicago
banged out 9 on the afternoon.
Hacker(9-11) finished the game allowing 1 run in the victory. Jim Hearn(9-16)
was the loser. He pitched 9 innings allowing 9 hits and 1 walk.
'Hacker was the man today,' Stan Hack said. 'He had just about every pitch
working.'
