Bill Wight pitched 9 strong innings at Municipal Stadium as the Baltimore

Orioles beat the Cleveland Indians 2 to 1.

Baltimore scored 2 runs in the 3rd inning. Willie Miranda led off the inning

for Baltimore when he laced a base-hit. Wight stepped up next and he laid

down a sacrifice bunt. One out later, Cal Abrams stepped up to the plate and

he drew a walk. Dave Philley stepped in and he tripled which was good for

two runs. That was all the offense they were to need. Cleveland made it

exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.

Wight(5-4), allowing 1 run for the game, picked up the victory. Herb

Score(16-8) was the loser. 'Wight was the man today,' Paul Richards said.

'He had just about every pitch working.'
