Del Crandall rocketed 3 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Milwaukee Braves

defeated the Brooklyn Dodgers by the score of 9 to 3 at Ebbets

Field.

Crandall was in a groove all evening. The Brooklyn fans hated to see him

approaching the batter's box. He popped a two-run clout over the fence in

the 2nd inning, hit a bases-empty home run in the 5th inning and smashed a

solo-shot out of the park (his 31st of the season) in the 9th inning.

Milwaukee had 10 hits for the game and Brooklyn had 4.

The victory was credited to Lew Burdette(13-9) who went 7 and 1/3 innings,

allowing 3 runs. Don Newcombe(12-10) ended up with the loss. He allowed 4

homeruns in 5 and 1/3 innings of work.

Crandall said, 'It was just all timing. I had pretty good rhythm at the plate

tonight. You've got to take advantage of mistakes when you can. A couple

pitches were definitely up a little bit - right in my zone.'
