Johnny Podres delivered 7 solid innings and second baseman Don Zimmer went

deep and had 3 RBI at Ebbets Field where the Brooklyn Dodgers beat the

dreadful Pittsburgh Pirates 7 to 3.



Brooklyn claimed the early lead in the first inning when they scored 4 runs on

3 hits. That was all the runs Podres(13-4) needed. Overall Brooklyn out-hit

Pittsburgh 11 to 7.



Clem Labine recorded the save, his 9th. Ron Kline(4-14) was the losing

pitcher. He was unable to control the Brooklyn offense and allowed 10 hits

and 3 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.
