Gus Zernial jacked one out of the ballyard and had 2 RBI as the Kansas City
Athletics pulled out a win over the New York Yankees by a score of 7 to 6 at
Municipal Stadium.
The game was won by Kansas City with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning.
Billy Shantz drew a walk. After an out was recorded, Vic Power stepped in
and he doubled. Hector Lopez then laced a base-hit making Kansas City the
winners and sending the 26,194 fans home happy. Despite losing, New York
out-hit Kansas City 11 to 7.
Tom Gorman(6-6) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 1 inning. Bob
Turley(13-12) took the loss in relief. He gave up 2 hits and 2 walks in 1
and 1/3 innings.
