The Washington Nationals nipped the New York Yankees 3 to 2 at Yankee Stadium
in a hard fought contest.
Washington won the game with a run in the top of the 9th inning. Mickey
Vernon delivered a solo blast (his 8th of the season). Washington had only 5
hits for the game.
The win was credited to Dean Stone(12-7) who went 2 innings allowing no runs.
Bob Grim(6-2) was charged with the loss in relief.
The Washington ballclub's record now stands at 49-79. With the loss New York
now has a record of 82-50.
