Second baseman Granny Hamner collected 2 extra-base hits and Murry Dickson
tossed a fine 2 hitter as the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Chicago Cubs
by a score of 2 to 1 at Connie Mack Stadium.
The game was won by Philadelphia with a run in the 8th inning. Dickson drew a
walk. Richie Ashburn next to the plate and he laid down a sacrifice bunt.
One out later, Hamner stepped up to the plate and he doubled scoring the run.
The game was a scoreless duel until the 7th inning.
The winning pitcher was Dickson(10-10) who allowed 1 run for the game. Hal
Jeffcoat(4-9) was hit with the loss in relief.
'He was moving it around and spotting it very well.' Stan Hack said. Dickson
pitched a great game. He deserves all the credit.'
