NL Transaction September 3rd
The New York Giants placed 33 year old SS Al Dark on the DL today. Dark, in his 9th Major League season, will miss the rest of the year. For the 1954 pennant winning Giants last year Dark hit .288 with 17 homers, 68 RBI, and 100 runs scored in 151 games. This season, struggling with nagging injuries, Alvin was hitting .252 with 7 homers, 38 RBI, and 54 runs in 115 games. Doctors say that he will be ready for spring traing next year.
