In a two run game the Kansas City Athletics got by the Detroit Tigers by the

score of 3 to 1.



Kansas City did all of it's offensive work in the 8th inning scoring 3 runs

utilizing 2 base hits. After an out was recorded, Bill Wilson initiated the

scoring spurt when he drew a walk. Bill Renna next to the plate and he

tripled knocking in a run. Vic Power then hit a deep fly scoring another

run. Enos Slaughter was up next and he reached on an error. Elmer Valo came

to the plate and laced a one-base hit. A balk was called scoring the final

run of the inning. Kansas City had just 4 hits for the night.



Bill Harrington(1-6) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and

allowing no runs. Tom Gorman earned the save, his 11th. Paul Foytack(0-2)

was given the loss. He surrendered 3 runs and 4 hits in 7 and 2/3 innings.
