Warren Spahn pitched a 3 hitter as the Milwaukee Braves topped the Cincinnati
Redlegs by a score of 2 to 1 at County Stadium.
Milwaukee tallied 1 run in the bottom of the 4th inning. The pitchers took
over after the 4th inning as neither team was able to score again.
The winning pitcher was Spahn(18-7) who allowed 1 run for the game. Art
Fowler(15-5) ended up with the loss. He surrendered just 4 hits and no walks
in 7 innings.
When questioned about his counterpart after the game, Fowler was lavish in his
praise, 'It was obvious very early on that we were going to be in for a long
night. Spahn brought his 'A' game with him - he had good stuff and was able
to spot it perfectly. He probably only made one or two bad pitches the
entire game!
