AL Transactions September 10th

The Chicago White Sox called up 20 year old rookie catcher Earl Battey.

The Detroit Tigers called up 23 year old, 2nd year pitcher, Bud Black.

The Cleveland Indians called up 23 year old rookie outfielder Rocky Colavito and 22 year old rookie pitcher Bud Daley.

The Kansas City Athletics recalled 29 year old, 2nd year pitcher, Johnny Gray. Gray was (0-2) with an 11.97 ERA in 9 innings before his demotion May 11th. Last year he was (3-11) with a 5.64 ERA in 105 innings over 16 starts.

Seattle (PCL) sold Lou Kretlow and Joe Ginsberg to Kansas City Athletics for$100000. Kretlow in his 9th season started the season with Baltimore. The 34 year old hurler was (0-3) with a 7.51 ERA in 38 innings. The 28 year old Ginsberg is a six year veteran of the big leagues, but has not played this year. His best season was in 1951 with the Tigers.
