Left fielder Gene Woodling lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 2 RBI as

the potent Cleveland Indians defeated the hapless Baltimore Orioles 7 to 0 at

Memorial Stadium.

Cleveland promptly took the lead in their half of the first scoring one

runner. After two outs Woodling single-handedly provided the offense with a

solo home run (his 9th of the season). The early run support proved

sufficient for Art Houtteman(5-9) and Cleveland. That was all the run

support Houtteman required. Cleveland simply wore out the Baltimore pitching

staff, scoring in 6 different innings.

Erv Palica(4-14) was the loser. He pitched 6 innings and surrendered 4 hits

and 3 walks.
