Center fielder Bill Tuttle had 2 base hits and 3 RBI at Municipal Stadium

where the Detroit Tigers beat the Kansas City Athletics 8 to 3.

Kansas City was unable to recover after Detroit went ahead in the top of the

6th inning when they tallied 2 runs on 3 hits. The key at-bat was by Tuttle

who deflated the crowd as he lined a one-base hit which was good for two

runs. The teams had been locked in a scoreless duel until the 6th inning.

The victory was credited to Ned Garver(15-9) who went 7 innings, allowing no

runs. Vic Raschi(4-7) was charged with the loss. He allowed just 3 hits and

no walks in 6 innings.
