Carlos Paula smashed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Washington Nationals

defeated the hapless Kansas City Athletics by the score of 11 to 8 at

Griffith Stadium.

Paula enjoyed a big day at the plate. He popped a two-run clout over the

fence in the 1st inning, cracked a two-run shot (his 7th of the season) in

the 3rd inning and laced a one-base hit in the 5th inning. Washington

dominated offensively as they scored in 6 different innings.

The win went to Mickey McDermott(5-10) who allowed 1 run in 5 innings. Alex

Kellner(6-12) was charged with the loss. He gave up 6 runs in 4 innings and

saw his ERA jump from 3.92 to 4.18.

'I felt great out there today' Paula said. 'I was seeing the ball perfectly,

and I was right on it with my swing.
