Don Newcombe delivered 9 solid innings as the strong Brooklyn Dodgers
outscored the Chicago Cubs 3 to 0.
Newcombe(14-10) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Chicago offense.
He allowed only 5 hits and no walks in 9 innings. Neither team managed to
score after the 3rd inning.
Bob Rush(13-12) was the loser. He pitched 8 innings allowing 9 hits and 2
walks. 'We didn't have a whole lot of chances today,' Stan Hack said.
'Newcombe just was too much for our guys.'
