21,178 fans watched an exciting game at Fenway Park. The Cleveland Indians
topped the Boston Red Sox by the slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.
Cleveland jumped on top to stay in the top of the 3rd inning plating an
isolated run. Boston had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.
Mike Garcia(13-10) allowed 2 runs in 8 innings, and picked up the victory.
Garcia was helped out by Ray Narleski who recorded his 20th save. Tom
Brewer(14-8) ended up with the loss.
'Some losses are harder to take than others' Pinky Higgins lamented after the
game. 'This was one of them.'
