Stan Musial smashed 2 homeruns and Willard Schmidt held Philadelphia to 3 hits

at Sportsmans Park where the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Philadelphia

Phillies by the score of 6 to 3.



Schmidt(7-4) was very good in the win. He was stingy on the mound, allowing

just 3 hits and 8 walks in 9 innings. St. Louis finished with 11 hits in the

victory.



Murry Dickson(10-12) was the loser. He served up 3 homeruns in his 6 and 2/3

innings. With this win, St. Louis has a 57-82 record. They have been 7-3

lately. With this loss, Philadelphia has a 4-6 record of late, 65-77

overall.
