Bob Turley delivered 9 solid innings and Hank Bauer had 2 base hits as the
dominant New York Yankees defeated the Kansas City Athletics by the score of
3 to 2 at Yankee Stadium.
Turley(14-13) was virtually untouchable. He gave up just 4 hits and 2 walks
in 9 innings. The teams had been locked in a scoreless duel until the 6th
inning.
The loss was charged to Art Ceccarelli(4-11). 'Turley pitched a gem of a
game', Lou Boudreau recounted. 'He kept our batters off balance the entire
game.'
