Billy Goodman had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and George Susce came through with a
solid 8 innings as the Boston Red Sox rallied impressively to win in dramatic
style over Chicago White Sox, 2 to 1.
Boston erupted with the game winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning
scoring 2 runs. After an out was recorded, Grady Hatton started the attack
as he drew a walk. Jimmy Piersall stepped up next and he drew a walk. Eddie
Joost then drew a walk to load the bases. Goodman stepped in and he
delivered a base-hit giving Boston the win and sending the home town fans
into a frenzy. The teams had been locked in a scoreless duel until the 7th
inning.
The win went to Ellis Kinder(4-5) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. Connie
Johnson(4-7) was the losing pitcher. 'That was exciting!,' Goodman said. 'I
would have paid money to watch this one.'
