Hal Brown carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning as the Baltimore Orioles
outscored the woeful Washington Nationals 2 to 1.
Brown(2-3) earned his pay with a solid performance for Baltimore. He went 6
and 1/3 innings surrendering 3 hits and 4 walks. The right-handed Brown lost
his no-hit bid when Mickey Vernon singled with one out in the 6th inning.
Washington made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the
needed runs across.
George Zuverink earned his 4th save. Webbo Clarke(1-1) suffered the loss. He
pitched 6 innings and surrendered 3 hits and 3 walks.
