The New York Giants defeated the Milwaukee Braves by a score of 8 to 4 at

County Stadium.



New York wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning with 3 runs

using 4 hits. After an out was recorded, Don Mueller keyed the rally when he

laced a one-base hit. Willie Mays stepped into the batter's box and he drew

a walk. Warren Spahn then unleashed a wild pitch. Dusty Rhodes was next to

the plate, but was promptly struck out. Hank Thompson came to the plate and

stroked a base-hit knocking home two runners. Whitey Lockman continued the

rally and laced a base-knock. Wayne Terwilliger next to the plate and he

ripped a base-knock scoring the final run of the inning. New York finished

with 13 hits while Milwaukee ended up with 9.



Ruben Gomez(8-11) got the win allowing 4 runs in 7 innings. Spahn(19-8) was

tagged with the loss. He was unable to control the New York offense and

allowed 11 hits and 4 walks in 6 innings.
