Ted Kluszewski launched 2 homeruns and Joe Nuxhall went 9 strong innings as
the Cincinnati Redlegs defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates by a score of 3 to 0
at Crosley Field.
Pittsburgh never recovered after Cincinnati took the lead in the bottom of the
3rd inning plating an isolated run. That early run support was enough for
Nuxhall(16-15) and Cincinnati. Cincinnati banged out 8 hits on the night.
Bob Friend(9-13) suffered the loss. He served up 3 homeruns in his 8 innings.
'Nuxhall took our guys to school' Fred Haney said. 'Too bad he doesn't pitch
for us - it would make my job a whole lot easier!'
