The Kansas City Athletics claimed 34 year old 4 year veteran OF Tom Saffell from the Pittsburgh Pirates on waivers. Saffell had hit .182 with 1o RBI in 130 plate appearances with the Pirates this season.
The New York Yankees claimed 35 year old pitcher Gerry Staley from the Cincinnati Reds on waivers. The 9 year veteran was 8-8 with a 4.48 ERA in 123 innings and 18 starts with the Redlegs this year.
