The Washington Nationals came in to the game in quite a tailspin, but they

were able to snap their 5 game slide and edged the Baltimore Orioles in 17

innings at Memorial Stadium by the score of 3 to 2.



Both teams were tied at 2 runs apiece after nine innings. Washington came out

the victor in the 17th inning. After an out was recorded, Tony Roig doubled.

After another out, Pete Runnels stepped in and he lined a single scoring the

run. Washington rapped out 13 hits for the afternoon.



The victory went to Dean Stone(13-8) who went 2 innings, allowing no runs. Erv

Palica(4-16) was the losing pitcher in relief. He allowed 2 hits and no

walks in 3 innings.
