Robin Roberts went the distance as the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the

lifeless Pittsburgh Pirates by the score of 4 to 3 at Connie Mack

Stadium.



In the 7th inning Philadelphia scored 3 runs with the help of 4 hits. The

highlight belonged to Roberts who made the crowd happy when he tripled

plating two runs. Pittsburgh threatened in the 9th but their rally came up

short.



Roberts(18-15), allowing 3 runs for the game, picked up the victory. The loss

was charged to Max Surkont(4-14). He gave up 4 runs and 7 hits in 6 and 2/3

innings.
