The St. Louis Cardinals edged the Brooklyn Dodgers at Sportsmans Park by the
score of 4 to 3.
Willard Schmidt(8-4) pitched well for St. Louis in their victory. He went 8
and 2/3 innings allowing 8 hits and 2 walks. Brooklyn threatened in the 9th
but their rally came up short.
Barney Schultz was credited with his 4th save. The losing pitcher was Roger
Craig(5-2) in relief. Harry Walker was beaming after the game, 'Not only
were we making good contact, but a lot of balls we hit seemed to have 'eyes'!
I just love winning these tight ones! It was just our evening - no doubt
about it!'
