Right fielder Al Kaline ripped 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Kansas City
Athletics were badly beaten by the Detroit Tigers, 15 to 4.
Kaline was really 'in the zone'. He lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the 2nd
inning and blasted a two-run home run (his 32nd of the season) in the 7th
inning. Detroit lit up the scoreboard in the 2nd inning which saw them plate
4 runs on 4 hits and the 5th inning when they had 5 runs on 5 hits. For the
game Detroit out-hit Kansas City 17 to 9.
Duke Maas(5-5) allowed no runs in 5 innings, and picked up the victory. Glenn
Cox(0-1) was the losing pitcher. He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings allowing 5
hits and 1 walk.
