Dale Long went yard and had 4 RBI as the Pittsburgh Pirates topped the
floundering New York Giants by a score of 6 to 3 at Polo Grounds.
Long led the offense for Pittsburgh. He cracked a solo homerun (his 20th of
the season) in the 2nd inning, lined a single bringing in two baserunners in
the 5th inning and hit a one-base hit scoring a run in the 9th inning. Both
teams totaled 11 hits on the afternoon.
Roy Face(8-7) got the win allowing 1 run in 5 innings. Dick Hall gained credit
for his 1st save. Don Liddle(6-8) was tagged with the loss.
