6,134 fans watched an exciting game at Fenway Park. The Baltimore Orioles

topped the Boston Red Sox by the slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.

The score was tied at 4 after nine. Baltimore won it in the 12th inning.

After an out was recorded, Hal Smith laced a base-knock. Jim Pyburn came

next and he singled. One out later, Ellis Kinder came up and he uncorked a

pitch that was ruled a passed ball scoring the run. Baltimore finished with

18 hits while Boston ended up with 13.

Ed Lopat(7-10) allowed no runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory. Erv

Palica earned the save, his 2nd. Kinder(5-6) suffered the loss in relief.

It was a tough loss for him as he did not allow an earned run in his 1 inning

of work.
