Al Smith's 10th inning double gave Cleveland the lead and the Indians held on 4-2 over the Dodgers in game three of the World Series.

Early Wynn came through with a solid 7 innings and Al Smith had 2 base hits at

Ebbets Field as the Cleveland Indians beat the Brooklyn Dodgers in 10 innings

4 to 2.



The score was tied at 2 after nine. Cleveland won it in the 10th inning.

After an out was recorded, Joe Altobelli started the attack as he reached on

an error. Smith next to the plate and he doubled resulting in a run. Bobby

Avila then would hit into a fielders choice scoring the final run of the

inning. Cleveland ended up with 8 hits for the game while Brooklyn had 5.



The win was credited to Bob Feller(1-0) who went 2 innings allowing no runs.

Ray Narleski got the save, his 1st. The loss was charged to Clem Labine(0-1)

in relief. He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings and surrendered 3 hits and 1 walk.
