The Cincinnati Redlegs scored 4 runs in the 3rd inning and edged the Chicago
Cubs at Crosley Field by the score of 6 to 5.
Wally Post enjoyed a fine day at the plate. He doubled in the 2nd inning and
brought the hometown folks to their feet with a Grand Slammer (his 40th of
the season) in the 3rd inning. Chicago threatened in the 9th but Cincinnati
was able to put down the rally.
Joe Nuxhall(17-16) went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 5 runs for the victory.
Nuxhall got relief help from Hersh Freeman who gained credit for his 13th
save. The losing pitcher was Sam Jones(15-17).
