Whitey Lockman slapped a walk off single in the 12th inning as the Giants snapped their 7 game losing streak 6-5 over the Phillies.

The New York Giants were able to stop their 7 game losing streak and nipped

the Philadelphia Phillies in 12 innings 6 to 5 at Polo Grounds in a hard

fought contest.



The game was deadlocked at 3 after nine full innings. New York came out on

top in the 12th inning. Billy Gardner laced a single. Two outs later Hank

Thompson came up and he was hit by a pitch. Whitey Lockman then ripped a

base-knock giving New York the victory as 4,561 happy fans celebrated wildly.

Philadelphia was out-hit by New York, 13 hits to 9.



Marv Grissom(1-8) allowed no runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory. Bob

Miller(6-4) was tagged with the loss in relief. He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings

and surrendered 3 hits and no walks.
