Carl Furillo slammed a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Brooklyn Dodgers defeated
the Cleveland Indians by the score of 9 to 7 at Municipal Stadium.
Cleveland was unable to claim the lead after Brooklyn went ahead in the top of
the 7th inning when they scored 2 runs on 2 hits. The crucial at-bat was
provided by Walt Moryn who deflated the crowd as he smashed a two-run homer
(his 1st of the season). Brooklyn finished with 12 hits in the victory.
Karl Spooner(2-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 inning. Bob
Feller(1-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. He gave up 4 hits and 1 walk
in 3 innings.
Center fielder Larry Doby launched 3 homeruns and had 5 RBI in a losing cause
for Cleveland.

Mike Garcia was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game at Ebbets Field as the Cleveland Indians beat the Brooklyn
Dodgers 6 to 1.
Cleveland came through with the game-winning runs in the 8th inning scoring 5
runners on 4 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Bobby Avila who
silenced the stadium when he stroked a base-hit which was good for two runs.
Cleveland finished with 9 hits in the victory.
The win went to Garcia(1-1) who allowed 1 run in the game. Don Newcombe(1-1)
ended up with the loss. He pitched 7 innings and surrendered 8 hits and 6
walks.

Early Wynn came through with a solid 7 innings and Al Smith had 2 base hits at
Ebbets Field as the Cleveland Indians beat the Brooklyn Dodgers in 10 innings
4 to 2.

Carl Furillo collected 4 RBI with one swing of the bat as the Brooklyn Dodgers
topped the Cleveland Indians by a score of 13 to 8 at Municipal
Stadium.
Furillo enjoyed a big day at the plate. He launched a rocket-shot out of the
park for a Grand Slam homerun (his 1st of the season) in the 7th inning and
